Friday Follow and Blog Hop (12)

Here's something I haven't done in awhile! Friday Follow hosted by Alison Can Read and Parajunkee and the Book Blogger Hop hosted by Crazy-For-Books. Both are blog hops to help bloggers get their blogs out there and connect with other bloggers with similar interests.

Friday Follow's question is which 3 authors would I like to sit down with for an hour to talk about their books and get writing advice.

I would probably have to go with the most obvious one first. J.K. Rowling. I mean she's pretty much a literary genius. I mean I don't even think I really have to explain this one any further. Next would be Julie Kagawa. I am a HUGE fan of the Iron Fey series and I would love to hear about what inspired her, her views on the characters and I'd of course hit her up for the inside information (a.k.a. what's coming next, personal details about the characters that authors know but don't necessarily tell the reader, etc.). Finally, Simone Elkeles. It's rare to come across contemporary books such as hers that are so moving. I think she's an amazing writer and I would love to pick her brain. Of course there are so many more I would want to talk to but those are just the first three off the top of my head.

The Book Blogger Hop asks what genre I wish I could get into but can't.

I'm pretty open when it comes to books and I've never ruled out a genre. I guess if I have to pick it would be historical fiction. I like his. fic. but I never seem to read much of it so I'd definitely like to give that more of a try.

It's that time again! Time to participating in the Book Blogger Hop hosted by Crazy-for-Books and Friday Follow hosted by Parakjunkee!

This week's question for the Book Blogger Hop is: What book are you looking forward to seeing published in 2011? Why?

Honestly I have NO IDEA. Like at all. I don't really know what's coming out for all of 2011 just a few that I'm not too super excited about. The Iron Knight by Julie Kagawa is coming out this year right? Cause I really want that! Sorry for such a lame answer... :L

This week's question for Follow Friday is: What is/was your favorite subject in school?

A: Hmm... well I'm not really a fan of school but if I had to pick out of the core subjects I'd say English. I'm good at English. Definitely HATE math. I'm in trig/pre-calc now and it's pretty much the worst thing ever. In general I like the art courses. I just finished taking Design and Creation of Jewelry and it was so much fun! I made so much cool stuff and some of it is even in the display cases in the hallways so that's fun! I also took Intro to Photography and that was cool because I learned how to develop my own film and we did a couple cool projects. I also loved Graphic Design (had this work in the display cases too! I'm proud of myself :P) which I took last year and I'm taking Graphic Design II this year which I'm excited about along with Web Page Design and a video production class (I'm kinda skeptical about how the video class will go though).

What classes did/do you like or dislike?

I haven't done one of these in awhile but they're so much fun I decided to start them up again! I'm participating in the Book Blogger Hop hosted by Crazy-for-Books and Friday Follow hosted by Parakjunkee!

This week's question for the Book Blogger Hop is: "Why do you read the genre that you do? What draws you to it?"

I personally like to read YA because it's my age group. I can relate to the characters more easily and understand what they're going through and how they feel. With adult books I don't always get what their going through because I haven't been there yet and with Middle Grade they're just too young to appeal to me.

How many books do you have on your 'to be read shelf’?

Well, technically none because I don't have a to be read shelf. I have them in a drawer next to my bed because I ran out of room elsewhere! Right now I probably have 10-15 book tbr, 4 of which are school books so as soon as I finish Beautiful Darkness I'm moving on to them! Sorry guys but you're gonna be getting reviews of them too! :P Unfortunately I have to read both Hemingway and Steinbeck this year and I hate them both with a passion but I guess that's what I get for taking honors right? What about you guys? How many books do you have on your tbr shelves (or wherever else you may keep your tbr books!)? Anything you're particularly looking forward to or trying to put off?

I do not. Ever. Way way way too distracting! I do listen to music all the time when I'm not reading though! I love every kind of music really and couldn't pick favorites because my favorites change with my mood. How about you guys?

Of course there's a weekly question so you guys can get to know me and this week's question asks about the book I'm currently reading. Right now I'm reading Tyger Tyger by Kersten Hamilton. This books is about a girl named Teagan, her brother Aiden, and her not cousin Finn. Teagan's mother is killed by goblins and her father is soon after abducted by them. The only way to save Teagan's father is for Teagan, Aiden, and Finn to enter the Mag Mell (sorta like faery land) and to retrieve him from the ruler of the land, Fear Doirich, the Dark Man.

Yes, it's that time of week again! BLOG HOPPING TIME! So everyone make like a cyber bunny and hop by some blogs!

Ok, and as for the question. This week's question asking what books I'm dying to get my hands on. Well as a self proclaimed book addict, ALL OF THEM!!! But, for the sake of answering the question I really want to read a few books that have yet to come out. Mocking Jay by Suzanne Collins is definitely one I'm waiting on (but then again who isn't? TEAM GALE! Because I want Peeta for myself!!!) Also, I'm still is crazy obsess mode over The Iron Fey series by Julie Kagawa so I'm definitely wanting the third book in that series to come out. (Don't worry guys I'll calm down about this series in a few days! You'll notice I'll tend to over obsess when I really love a book!) Linger, obviously, by Maggie Stiefvater. Hmm... I know there are a ton more but that's all I can think of now.

Now, every week you are supposed to answer a question for the hoppers to get to know you a little better and this week's question is who are some of your favorite authors and why? At first I had a really difficult time trying to answer this question. I thought back to all the books I've read and who they were by and I just couldn't decide. But then I realized that was my answer. I love and respect all authors and I could never pick a favorite. Picking a favorite author is like picking a favorite family member, for most of us it just can't be done and while sometimes they will get on our nerves in the end we love them all pretty much equally.

So, my name is Monica and I started blogging because I read a lot and I wanted to share my thoughts and opinions about what I read with as many people as possible. I love to share books with all of my friends and family and they always liked what I had to say, so why not put it on the internet so everyone else can read it? That's why I started blogging!
